Tradition
It should burn clean
The old grower's tell, and the one the company is named for. Flushed and cured properly, cannabis burns down to a pale ash. Anecdotal, but it takes ten seconds and it is very hard to fake.
This site covers a regulated adult-use cannabis operation.

About Silver Ash
We operate across the whole chain, from genetics through to distribution. Breadth isn't the point. Every handoff is a place where standards drift and nobody owns the outcome.
Quality isn't something we claim. It's something we check — in the lab, in the tray, and on the palate.
The company
Most cannabis products pass through four or five companies before they reach a shelf. A cultivator sells to a processor. The processor sells oil to a manufacturer. A brand licenses the packaging. Someone else moves the finished goods.
Silver Ash runs those stages itself, with the same people accountable at each one. Ask what happened to a batch and there is an answer: which cultivar it came from, how it was fed and flushed, how long it cured, what the lab said about it. Integration isn't the pitch. Knowing the answer is.
Commitment to quality
Where testing is required, it's carried out by licensed third-party laboratories, and the results follow the batch. The full panel is on the manufacturing page. A certificate confirms a product is safe to sell. It doesn't tell you whether it's any good, so two older checks run alongside it.

Consistency
Sensory assessment is carried out by a certified Ganjier against a structured method, not a preference. It holds a cultivar to the same character run after run, and keeps a partner brand recognizable on the shelf.
Laboratory testing is what certifies a product as safe and compliant. Ash color is a traditional field indicator of flush and cure — a useful signal, not a substitute for analysis — and sensory assessment is a matter of trained judgment.
Leadership
A vertically integrated company only works if somebody knows the ground it covers. Ours is led by someone who came up through Illinois dispensary retail, and who holds the sensory credential the whole standard rests on.
Todd Patterson
Founder & CEO · Certified Ganjier
Todd Patterson is the Founder and CEO of The Silver Ash Company, an Illinois-based cannabis company built around quality, authenticity, education, genetics, and strategic brand partnerships.
Todd's journey into the legal cannabis industry began at the dispensary level, where he worked as a budtender before advancing through supervision, management, customer relations, training, product education, and community engagement. Over the course of his career, he helped open multiple Illinois dispensaries and gained firsthand experience understanding what connects brands, dispensaries, and consumers.
That experience ultimately inspired his transition from retail to ownership.
As a Certified Ganjier and member of The Ganjier Guild, Todd brings a plant-first perspective to business. He believes great cannabis begins with exceptional genetics and cultivation — but ultimately succeeds because of quality, consistency, education, and the experience delivered to the consumer.
Through The Silver Ash, Todd is building a platform that connects rare genetics, cultivation, processing, manufacturing, national brand partnerships, product development, and market strategy. Silver Ash is also helping established cannabis brands enter and navigate the Illinois market while developing its own portfolio of distinctive products and genetics.
Before entering cannabis, Todd spent more than a decade working in sports and entertainment, producing and coordinating entertainment for organizations and brands across the NBA, Jordan Brand, NFL, MLB, colleges, corporate events, and private events. That background in entertainment, relationship building, and experiential marketing continues to influence how he approaches cannabis brands today.
Todd's vision for Silver Ash extends beyond simply putting products on dispensary shelves. He wants to build a company where cannabis culture, legacy knowledge, modern business, education, and opportunity meet — while introducing Illinois consumers to products and genetics worthy of their attention.
The Silver Ash is about knowing the plant, respecting the culture, understanding the consumer, and building what comes next.

What we do
Companies work with us at a single point or across the whole run. Biomass into oil. A formulation into a finished SKU. A name into a product line with somewhere to sell it.

Whether you're holding biomass with nowhere to put it or a name with no production behind it, the first conversation is the same.
